Where has the time gone!? These past two and 1/2 months have flown right on by, especially this last week. However, I am so happy that I was fortunate enough to fly out to South Carolina for my husbands graduation from basic training. That was definitely an experience we both will never forget. I flew in on Tuesday and wasn't able to see him until the next day. But let me tell you about that first time seeing him in MONTHS! Ah!
Wednesday, was family day. So the soldiers had a little parade on a field and after that was completed we were able to go out on the field and look for our solider. It was a huge game of hide and seek......every one looked the same. Bald heads, army uniform, same glasses, everything the same. So I tried to scramble my way through this LARGE crowd of ecstatic families also trying to find their loved ones. I made it all the way to the back and just stood there scanning the group of soldiers in front of me. I look straight ahead and see a soldier who is just standing there with a huge smile on his face... I stay still for a moment.... hoping and praying it's my husband. (Note: they weren't aloud to leave formation until we went up to them) As I'm just staring at this solider that was smiling from ear to ear, he slightly turns his head towards me and I knew right then, It was him!!! I instantly wanted to cry, smile, and hug him! I don't think I have ever hugged him so tight! The rest of the day I wasn't able to hold his hand, kiss or hug which about KILLED me. We are married isn't that what we are supposed to be allowed to do... oh man how i just wanted to break those rules. However, the next day was Graduation so that meant he was MINE for the weekend :)
We drove from South Carolina through North Carolina to Virginia! I was so surprised with how green literally everything was. It was absolutely beautiful. Some of the leaves on the trees were even starting to turn colors. So there were spots of yellow throughout our drive. Kurt had to report to Ft Lee, VA on Saturday so I soaked up every single minute I had with him. And I absolutely loved it! He is my favorite person.
